About this build

We build this formal derby on a sharp-toed men's last using black oxhide leather and a Goodyear welt. The internal lift system adds 2.8 inches without distorting the low-top profile. Outside, the visible heel measures one and one-quarter inches against a durable rubberized bottom.

Internal lift build

The hidden midsole and lift stack add 2.8 inches of height inside the shoe. We seat the footbed deep enough to keep the five and one-quarter inch shaft proportioned naturally around your ankle.

Oxhide leather upper

We cut the plain-toe upper from black oxhide leather and line the interior fully with smooth leather. The skin takes a high polish, breathes well, and softens across the vamp as you break it in.

Goodyear welt construction

A stitched Goodyear welt secures the upper to the rubberized bottom for long service life. This method keeps the sole firm, resists wet pavement, and allows resoling once the tread wears down over years of use.

Lace closure and fit

Blind eyelets and thin waxed laces close the open-laced derby quarters over your instep. Built on a standard medium D width, the shoe weighs twenty ounces in a men's size seven and a half.
